First Title is Smartfella Is Not Too Smart…
- I’m on Hilton Head Island.
- I’m in a grocery store.
- I came upon a very eye-catching display of Sourdough Bread.
- The grocery store owner does not have to work very hard to make his eye-catching Sourdough Bread Display eye-catching to Fella because I love Sourdough Bread!
- Later in this Foolishness I will tell you why you ought to be in love with Sourdough Bread also.
- Aldi has the best store-bought Sourdough Bread in my neck of the woods (whatever that means).
- I grabbed a loaf and put it under my arm and continued shopping.
Do you see why Fella is not too smart? You don’t, do you? Hang
on, I’ll explain more later.

Second Title is Beware of Piggly Wigley…What does Piggly
Wigley have to do with all of this? I know you know what grocery store I am
shopping in because I gave you a big hint. Yes, I was in Hilton Head Island’s
Piggly Wigley Store.
However, I have not told you why you ought to Beware of Good Ole Piggly Wigley. I will do that now...
- Aldi’s sells its Sourdough Bread for about $3.49 (It used to be even higher.).
- Before COVID it sold for about $1.80.
- Mr. Aldi said he had to raise the price to about $3.80 because of COVID.
- I’m not sure what the relationship between Dough and COVID is (this joined a long list of things that Fella is not sure of).
Here I go trying to explain why Smartfella is not as Smart as he is cracked up to be (whatever that means)…
- The eye-catching display did not tell Fella a price for the Sourdough Bread.
- Fella thought, “It’s smaller than an Aldi loaf of Sourdough Bread so it must be about $3.20”.
- Fella did not bother to check on the price at the checkout counter. (Are you beginning to see why Fella is not too smart?)
- Fella did not bother to check on the price when he was handed the sales slip. (That proves why Fella is not too smart.)
- Fella checked the price when he got back to his really nice condo (lots of things are really nice on Hilton Head Island).
It was when I checked the price in my really nice condo that
I understood that I was not as smart as I had been telling my Dear Readers all
these years when I touted myself as “The Smartfella”…
My Loaf Of $3.20
Sourdough Bread Had Cost Not Too Smart Me $12.00
(Actually, it was
$11.99 but Fella calls that $12.00!)
Before the Lagniappe… The Blog Posting is finished, but above I promised information about the wonders of Sourdough Bread. I warn you It Is A Lot Of Information! If you don’t want to read it because of its length, I will understand. I hope you will just skim the 27 Benefits of Sourdough Bread and then go out and buy a loaf (I hope you are Smart enough to not drive to Hilton Head's Piggly Wigley to buy your loaf).
Here is the link… https://thatsourdoughgal.com/benefits-of-sourdough-bread/
Would I kid u?
Not As Smart As I Thought I Was, Fella
Lagniappe: If you go to the trouble of magnifying the
Wrapper Picture of the Sourdough Loaf, you will see that there are interesting
words on that wrapper. I will go further than “interesting”. They are Strange
Words. They are, “PROCESSED AND PREPARED BY A HOME-BASED FOOD PRODUCTION
OPERATION THAT IS NOT SUBJECT TO SOUTH CAROLINA’S FOOD SAFETY REGULATIONS.” Is
there a real Smart Fella among My Dear Readers that can explain this to the
rest of us?
