My Credit Union has discontinued the Free Coffee Service for us members. The Coffee Do-It-Yourself Machine is still there but there is a sign on it telling members they can’t use it Because of the Pandemic.
Here is what really happened:
Ø At a Board of Directors Meeting last year Director Sidney Pennypincher stood up and said, “We have to do something about this Free Coffee Service we offer our members. It is a significant financial drain on our bottom line. Two months ago I made a proposal that we spend $35,000 to study just how much this Perk (did you get my little play on words here?) was costing us. We now have the results of the study and I was shocked to find out it was costing us $512.76 a year! I am hereby proposing that we discontinue this wasteful practice!”
Ø One of the directors said, “Maybe we ought to tread lightly here before we make our members mad at us?”
Ø Pennypincher countered, “No problem. We will put a sign on the machine and say we had to stop the Coffee Service because of COVID-19”.
That being said all hands shot up and the Free Coffee Service was history.

Other Pandemic Changes...
Ø Due to the pandemic sales people are no longer required to be nice to customers.
Ø Because of the Pandemic after putting your groceries in your paper or plastic bags in the grocery story, the check out engineers have been directed to no longer allow you to take your groceries out of the store with you.
Ø Due to the pandemic banks have discontinued paying interest on all CDs and Savings Accounts.
