My Blog Is Not As Foolish As The FTC

The Federal Trade Commission's New Antitrust Lawsuit Against Amazon Is An Amazing Exercise In Hubris And Absurdity

In a complaint filed on June 21, 2023, the FTC alleges that Amazon's incredibly popular Prime program is a scam. It alleges that Prime—a monthly or yearly subscription program that confers many benefits, including free shipping and tons of streaming content, to Amazon customers—is too easy to sign up for and too hard to cancel.

"Amazon has knowingly duped millions of consumers into unknowingly enrolling in Amazon Prime," the agency said in a statement. "Amazon also knowingly complicated the cancellation process for Prime subscribers who sought to end their membership."

Unknowingly Enrolling? Huh? ... I was once enrolled and I knew I had enrolled and I got out and don’t remember it being that difficult to get out.

Like many major companies, Amazon has some flaws. But the argument that it's broadly harmful to consumers—let alone so harmful that it requires the intervention of the federal government—is so far removed from reality that only government bureaucrats with an ax to grind could make it with straight faces.

Let’s talk about these 8 words above... “Like many major companies, Amazon has some flaws”. Think about these 3 words of the 8 words, “many major companies”. These 3 words imply that there are Major Companies that Do Not Have Flaws. Fella thinks, since there are companies that Do Not Have Flaws, it is incumbent (I’m practicing my Lawyer Words) that all companies should be required by Federal Law to Not Have Flaws!

There has been a passage to 3 hours and 27 minutes since I finished pecking out the above paragraph. During this time I have been searching the Internet for the Good Ole USofA’s Top 5 Companies without Flaws. I have found them and they are listed below...

The FDC is obsessing over Miscellaneous Trivia.

Patrick Hedger, executive director of the Taxpayers Protection Alliance, noted that it took him under a minute and required just six clicks to cancel his Prime account—fewer clicks than it takes to submit a public comment on the FTC website.

Please allow me to lay out another way Our Rulers could help us be all we can be...

Waiting For Credit Card Readers to Read Credit Cards Is A Tremendous Waste of Our Time!...

Ø Some store’s credit card readers take 4 seconds to read our credit cards and approve the taking of our money.

Ø Other store’s readers take 7 seconds.

Ø If we multiply these 3 lost seconds by the U.S. Population on June 22, 2023 of 334,946,035, that means we have wasted 1,004,838,105 seconds!

I think the FTC would agree that this is an unconscionable waste of a whole bunch of seconds!

Would I kid u?

Lagniappe: I found this during my reading up on this issue...

The Commission files a complaint when it has reason to believe that the named defendants are violating or are about to violate the law

Did you cringe at the underlined words?

Our Rulers are now actually taking us to task, not only because we have violated their laws but because we are about to violate their laws.

We Always Have Had...

Ignorance of the Law Is No Excuse

We Have Now Progressed To...

Not Yet Violating the Law Is No Excuse
