How many times have you heard politicians say the words you want to hear? Then, when it comes time to do what you heard them say, they do differently from what they said they would do.
Here is an extreme example I made up...
What if Abraham Lincoln had said quietly to himself as he freed the slaves in the south (signed the Emancipation Proclamation), “I hate slaves”.
What matters is what he did on behalf of slaves not what he thought of slaves.
Don’t attack me. I said I made this up.

Or said another way:
Before this speech Hitler had told his generals to prepare for an attack on Western Europe...
Hitler’s Words on October 6, 1939 (he had just conquered Poland):
“As Fuehrer of the German people and Chancellor of the Reich, I can thank God at this moment that he has so wonderfully blessed us in our hard struggle for what is our right, and beg Him that we and all other nations may find the right way, so that not only the German people but all Europe may once more be granted the blessing of peace.”
Notice the nice words like: “I can thank God”, “blessed us”, “our right”, “beg Him”, “the right way” and “granted the blessing of peace”.
Repeat of first paragraph above:
How many times have we heard politicians say the words we want to hear? Then, when it comes time to do, they do differently from what they said they would do.
Would politicians kid u?
It’s more like lying than kidding.

Two things: Yes, sometimes they tell you what you want to hear just to get your vote. That's lying for sure. Others, however, genuinely want to do what they think is right for the country, and run on that platform only to find out, once elected that what they want to do, what they promised to do, is simply not possible. We all know the governments don't manage to balance their budgets, and while there are many areas where we, the people see a need to spend more money, these newly elected officials discover very quickly that it not only doesn't exist but just how much financial trouble already exists. People go into politics because they want to make a positive difference and then find out they can't actually do what they had in mind.
Then we have this thinking out there (wherever "there" is)... I once commented that all this money we are borrowing is costing us a fortune in Interest and one day we will have to Pay It Back. The person who was "educating" me ignored the Interest Pay Back Part and told me that we are a Sovereign Nation and that means we do not have to pay back the money we borrow. I wonder if the "educator" noticed that my mouth was open as he finished setting me straight. China is dumber than we are dumb because they lend us money knowing that we will never have to pay it back.
