Would George Washington Be Ashamed Of Himself?

We see it happen over & over. Dudley Do-Rightimagegets elected to Congress. He is a Straight Shooting Extremely Honest Person. He sets about doing Straight Shooting Extremely Honest Things. He & we are proud about how Straight Shooting Extremely Honest he is.

His Straight Shooting Extremely Honest Virtues are noticed by old time members of Congress who were once Straight Shooting Extremely Honest People. They have taken notice of him because they are getting wet by the waves he is generating & their once nicely laid out feathers have become ruffled.

An old timer is assigned to Dudley in order to Straighten Out the Straight Shooter. The Old Timer invites Dudley into the Cloak Room & says to him, “What the hell is wrong with you?”

From that point on, it is just a matter of time. Little by little our Straight Shooting Extremely Honest Dudley is changed into Extremely Dastardly Dudley.image

What does all of this have to do with George Washington? Obviously this transformation would never have happened to the Father of Our Country who never told a lie.

Going along to get along is a Powerful Driving Force in our 9% Approval Rated Congress but Ole George’s Honesty would have remained intact... Or would it have?

Would I kid u?

I think it is more the perks and attention. Dudley always gets a table quick if he shows up w/o a reservation. He might be a dork but who knows where he will be down the road. His own employees cater to whatever he wants as they are mostly new to the scene and love the power it gives them. I think his leadership would try to seduce him, "Hey Dudley some of our friends would like to do a fund raiser for you and some of us would be happy to attend so our wives can spend some time with your wife". I think they would ruff him up if he voted against something they really wanted. Power does corrupt and absolute power well you know the rest. I think you can used to having some legislative employee park your car, open your doors, et al. At any rate good writing and easy reading.

I thought Dudley was a Canadian Mountie and therefore would be ineligible to be elected to Congress unless he held dual citizenship which means at least one or both of his parents would be US citizens.
Even if he held dual citizenship the chances of the American public electing a Canadian to public office are so slim i.e. talk to Ted Cruise, it is a moot point.
